The London School of Clinical Communications and Hypnosis (LSCCH UK) is committed to driving the next evolution of psychotherapy. Our mission is to establish and maintain the highest global standard for advanced training in Clinical Communications, Clinical Hypnotherapy, and, crucially, Integrative Psychotherapy.
We believe the future of mental healthcare lies in practitioners who are versatile, evidence-based, and capable of integrating multiple therapeutic modalities.
The LSCCH curriculum, refined over decades in the UK, is designed to create clinicians who are not only skilled but clinically robust, operating at the leading edge of practice worldwide.
Who Are the London School of Clinical Communications and Hypnosis?

LSCCH UK is not merely a training provider; we are a clinical institution with a profound, foundational legacy. The original London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) was first founded in 1984 by the late Michael Joseph, whose vision was to professionalise and elevate the ethical application of hypnotherapy in the UK.
This gives us four decades of experience in clinical application, research integration, and uncompromising educational rigour. Our authority is built on this extensive history. We are dedicated to the application of hypnosis not as a stage trick or a simple relaxation technique, but as a sophisticated, evidence-based tool for clinical change.
Our historical roots, transitioning from the LCCH, cement our position as a thought leader. The name change to LSCCH highlights the foundational importance of Clinical Communications. True mastery of Clinical Hypnosis is impossible without mastering the subtle, ethical, and profound communication techniques that allow a clinician to facilitate deep, lasting change in a client. This dual focus ensures our graduates are prepared for complex clinical environments, setting us apart from training that focuses purely on technique.
We stand at the forefront, defining what it means to be a professional, ethical, and clinically competent hypnotherapist in the modern era, setting the benchmark for the UK, Europe, and Asia.
Clinical Leadership: The Expertise of Peter Mabbutt

Our educational philosophy is championed and directed by leading figures in the field, ensuring our curriculum remains academically rigorous and clinically current.
Peter Mabbutt, the Director of Studies at LSCCH UK, exemplifies this dedication. As a highly experienced clinician and educator, Peter Mabbutt has been instrumental in shaping the UK’s standards for Clinical Hypnotherapy training for over two decades. His work focuses on integrating established psychological principles with advanced hypnotherapeutic techniques, ensuring that LSCCH graduates are trained to the highest possible level of clinical competence and ethical practice. His direct oversight guarantees the consistency and quality of education across our global network.
A Natural Progression: From LCCH to LSCCH
Our evolution into the London School of Clinical Communications and Hypnosis (LSCCH) was a natural and necessary progression. This rebrand reflects our expanded curriculum, which places equal weight on advanced psychotherapy training and the critical study of clinical communications—essential skills for any truly effective modern practitioner of Clinical Hypnosis.
The emphasis on the word 'Clinical' is paramount. It signifies our commitment to evidence-based methods, mandatory clinical supervision, and rigorous adherence to the ethical framework expected of allied health professionals. We do not just teach hypnosis; we teach Clinical Hypnotherapy as a recognised, responsible adjunct or primary intervention within an Integrative Psychotherapy framework.
Upholding the UK Benchmark, Globally
LSCCH UK’s curriculum ensures that the highest standard of Clinical Hypnotherapy training developed in the UK is delivered consistently across our network in Europe and Asia. This unified, high-quality delivery is what maintains our status as a global leader.
Governance and Professional Affiliation
LSCCH UK has always been synonymous with robust professional governance, ensuring our graduates are eligible for membership in the field’s most respected bodies. Our educational standards have directly influenced the evolution of professional associations:

The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH): For many years, the BSCH served as the primary professional body for our graduates, focusing on the ethical and clinical application of hypnosis within the UK.

The British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy (BSCHIP): Reflecting the necessary evolution of the profession and LSCCH's commitment to multi-modal training, the society transitioned to the BSCHIP. This change acknowledged the vital role of Integrative Psychotherapy alongside core hypnotherapy, providing a more comprehensive scope of practice for members and reflecting the curriculum taught at LSCCH UK.

The International Alliance of Clinical Hypnotherapist and Integrative Psychotherapist (IACHIP): Today, LSCCH UK’s advanced training is aligned with the International Alliance of Clinical Hypnotherapist and Integrative Psychotherapist (IACHIP). IACHIP is the global standard-setting body that represents the culmination of this evolution. It provides a contemporary, internationally recognised framework that supports practitioners of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy across diverse continents, ensuring portability, high ethical standards, and a commitment to ongoing professional development on a global scale. This ongoing relationship ensures our students are trained not just for the local UK market, but for international professional recognition.
Our Global Network for Professional Training:
LSCCH UK is the central governing body, dedicated to maintaining the educational rigour and professional integrity of our programmes. We work with trusted partners to service practitioners globally, ensuring geographical accessibility without compromising quality:
LCCH Portugal (Europe): Servicing practitioners in the European region, including our key educational centre in Portugal. This allows us to actively contribute to the professionalisation of Integrative Psychotherapy standards within the EU.
LCCH Asia: Servicing practitioners throughout the South East Asian region, namely Malaysia and Singapore.
Important Affiliation Note: We wish to clearly state that LSCCH UK and its associated entities (LCCH Asia, LCCH Portugal) are not affiliated with LCCH International.
